Our Mission
Our aim is to help communities improve the quality of life for everyone and to create better places to live. We will do this by cultivating relationships, partnerships, leadership and innovation, both within communities and among organizations that serve those communities.

The Community Collaborative, Inc. was formed in August, 1995, when ten groups from West Virginia joined together to create a new nonprofit organization for the purpose of supporting economic and community development in the state. The Collaborative is unique in that it combines the efforts of state and federal government agencies, a land grant university and a collection of nonprofit organizations. The Collaborative brings together many of the groups and individuals in West Virginia with interests, talents, and resources to help local grass roots initiatives survive. The Community Collaborative, Inc. has adopted the following goals as guidance for our work:

  • Build capacity of individuals, organizations, and communities by developing principled and skillful leaders who can identify needs, access resources and build on existing assets.
  • Increase the capacity of organizations to support long-term positive change in key economic, social and political indicators.
  • Build the capacity of Community Collaborative Inc. to accomplish its mission.
